2. Author Rights and AI Training
We care deeply about respecting the creative work of book authors. Our AI training policies are designed to protect author rights while providing you with valuable reading insights:
- No book content training: We do not train our AI systems on the actual content of books without explicit permission from authors or rights holders.
- Third-party protection: Our third-party AI providers are contractually bound to respect author rights and are not permitted to train on book content.
- Highlight-based learning: We only train our AI on content you personally highlight and annotate to better understand your reading interests and preferences.
- Author respect: We believe in protecting the creative writing and intellectual property of book authors, ensuring their work is not exploited for AI training purposes.
- Transparent practices: We are committed to being transparent about how our AI systems learn and operate, always prioritizing author rights.
3. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Ensuring you have the right to upload and use any books or content
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials
- Complying with all applicable laws and regulations
- Respecting intellectual property rights of authors and publishers

BookRise is a digital reading platform that provides:
- Import and access to digital books (EPUB, PDFs, and other supported formats)
- AI-powered reading assistance and insights
- Highlighting, annotation, and note-taking features

5. Intellectual Property
All platform features, design, branding, and functionality are owned by BookRise and protected under intellectual property laws.
6. User Content
You retain ownership of your content, including highlights, notes, uploaded files, and metadata. You grant BookRise a limited license to store, process, and display your content for Service functionality.
